Cornelia Diane Clark, 56
Lake Thonotosassa, Florida
Passed away September 5, 2006
Spring 2007,
Diane was an avid collector of Hitty dolls. Her girls lived at the "LTBS" ("Lake Thonotosassa Boarding School.") The stories she posted about her Hittys reflected their life at the school that they ran.
Diane belonged to two Yahoo groups: HittyGirls and Hitty4everyone. Her creativity and imagination sparked fun and friendship from those she met in person and online.
In life Diane knew she needed to provide for her Hittys and before her death she wrote a list of her friends with whom she wanted her Hittys to live. The following photos of her Hittys were taken by Diane and notations have been made to show where the Hittys are now.

I did not know Diane for very long as we were just beginning to develop a friendship through the Hittygirls group. I enjoyed her posts and photos about the adventures she had with her Hittys at the LTBS. I especially enjoyed posts about Cuz Britta, one of Diane's favorite dolls.
It was through a mutual friend of Diane's and mine, Nancy Schaub, that I became involved with this project.
Nancy originated the idea and I was honored to volunteer to gather the donations, cover the display box, and make the journey to GCIHS Museum to personally present the donations.

Chapter VII
In Which I Learn the Ways of Gods, Natives, and Monkeys
"Here I was suddenly chosen to be god to a tribe of savages... They made me a little temple of green leaves... I was set upon a sort of altar, trimmed with bamboo shoots. ...It felt rather lonely to be a god for days on end... But it was during this time that I came to know monkeys... We struck up a sort of friendship. I came to enjoy the touch of their fingers when they stroked me curiously. There was one smallest monkey... who paid me considerable attention. His visits helped to break the monotony of my days and nights. Once I remember he brought me a present. I think it must have been a nutmeg..."
