Charles E. Wadsworth (1917-2002), artist and poet, first came to Great Cranberry Island with his future wife, Jean Howard around 1945.  They loved the area and returned year after year.

This video touches on Waddy's taking up art, his status as Conscientious Objector during WW II, and his courtship and 55-year marriage with Jean.

There is a description of their hand-building their house on Great Cranberry Island, 1946-1948, written by Jean herself, with photos taken during the construction.  In this segment, Laurie Wadsworth, Waddy and Jean's daughter, speaks her mother's words.

Waddy then tells how he invited Great Cranberry Island stalwarts Carl Nelson, Jack Heliker, and Bob LaHotan to the island.

He relates an interesting story about Ashley Bryan's stay on Great Cranberry, and how he came to move to Islesford.

Waddy talks of his publishing business -- The Tidal Press -- the publications he made, and his techniques in collagraph intaglio printing.

He then tells a few anecdotes about his year's stay in Sienna, Italy, and Geoff and Laurie's education there.

Finally, there is a quick house tour, followed by Waddy reading his poem, "The House."

Original music by Waddy's son Geoff enriches the production.

The video is available as DVD.  It is 40 minutes long.
